Can journalism be both wrong and outstanding?
Most people would instantly argue against such a proposition. But not Noam Chomsky, no lover of truth himself. Do read this fine feature on him by Emma Brockes in the Guardian, where Chomsky says that journalism can report lies and still be "outstanding," simply because of its politics.
Also read Yazad Jal's recent post on him.
(Guardian link via email from Sriram Krishnamoorthy, who also sends me a link to another Guardian piece on another icon of the left, George Galloway.)
Update: Anand of Locana informs me that The Guardian has withdrawn the Chomsky feature from its website, apologising for some misrepresentations in it. The bit I referred to was not one of them.
