The Social Photography Exchange

You'd think it's a no-brainer, even if no one's thought of it before: upcoming musicians, when they perform, would like photographs taken of themselves in action; young photographers need interesting subjects to practice on; if the two come together, it's a classic win-win situation.

Well, Kiran Jonnalagadda comes up with just such a proposal, and proposes to call it the Social Photography Exchange. I think it's a fine idea, and can, in fact, act as an enabler for artists of different kinds, not just musicians and photographers.

One random example: I've been looking for pod-free music for a podcast I'm planning to start, and I'm sure a lot of bands out there wouldn't mind the exposure. Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit, on the podcast he hosts, carries out just that kind of an exchange, using music by different upcoming bands on each episode. They benefit from having their music heard by Reynolds's listeners, who surely number in the tens of thousands, while he benefits by getting cool new music every week to play on his show.

But that's tangential. For now, if you're interested, go over and check out Kiran's idea, and spread the word to anyone who might be interested.
