Free speech in Tamil Nadu
The moral police have been especially vigilant in Tamil Nadu in recent times, but here's a welcome development: http://www.karuthu.com. Rediff informs us that this is a website started by Karthi Chidambaram and Kanimozhi, the kids of P Chidamabaram and M Karunanidhi. Its purpose: "to voice its opinion against repression and to safeguard the fundamental rights of freedom of speech and expression." Read more here.
What is especially welcome about this initiative is that because of the people behind it, it will actually have some political clout, and will not be easily suppressed. Good going.
