So when did you first have sex?
No, no, I don't really want to know, please don't email me. But the reason I bring the subject up is "the first comprehensive global study of sexual behaviour," in which researchers have found that "contrary to popular belief, sexual activity is not starting any earlier than previously believed." It seems that "[n]early everywhere, men and women have their first sexual experiences in their late teens (aged 15-19 years), with younger ages for women than for men."
For some inexplicable reason, I'm enormously relieved. Over the years I've read reports of how kids are losing their virginity at 16, then 15, then 14, and so on, and agonised over how I missed out on all the fun in my boring and immensely pristine teenage years. (I read many books, played a lot of chess, won a few quizzes, and blushed everytime anything female looked at me, even if it was someone's grandmother.) But now I need not bemoan all that I have missed, and immense relief comes.
Or rather, as we all know how words can be misconstrued, immense relief arrives.
