"An alternative to Hollywood"

Chandrahas Choudhury writes about Iranian cinema in the latest issue of Tehelka. Good stuff. An interesting quote from the Iranian director, Minoo Farshchi, on Hindi films being shown in Iran:
All the songs and dances from your films have to be chopped out. So on Iranian television Bollywood films last for 45 minutes from start to finish.
So they miss out on the item numbers. Bummer.
