Look ma, no honesty
The Times of India reports that the CBI has arrested BR Meena, the Commissioner of the Income Tax Tribunal "after searches at his various premises led to recovery of disproportionate assets, including Rs 2.1 million in cash."
If I feel surprise, it is at the man's arrest, not at his alleged corruption. Our system has inbuilt incentives for corruption, with plenty of discretion given to government servants with virtually no accountability. Anyway, there is a danger of being too cynical here. Three cheers for the CBI.
Actually, two. One went to the taxman.
