An independent medium

Jai Arjun Singh makes his debut on The Middle Stage with a post about "Film", a collection of essays by Roger Manvell published in 1944, which, unusually for books of that period, looked at cinema as "an independent medium with its own set of strengths and limitations, rather than judge it with reference to theatre or literature." Some interesting thoughts on acting in there, check it out.
