The language of love

I had once ignorantly bemoaned the paucity of good translations in India. Well, I soon discovered that there was no shortage of English translations of regional-language books, but that they weren't marketed or distributed well. That leaves it to the keen reader to take the initiative and hunt out good regional literature. The effort, no doubt, can be well worth it, as my co-blogger on The Middle Stage, Chandrahas Choudhury, found when he picked up Waiting for Rain by Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay. Read his review here.
