Cheaper and cheaper
A couple of days ago, Ratan Tata promised to bring to market, by 2008, a car that would cost just Rs one lakh (apprx. US$2305). And today comes news of a personal computer that will cost just Rs 10,000 (apprx. US$231). It will run on batteries, will have a "full size flexible, roll up keyboard", as well as "a choice of everyday applicaiton [sic] such as word processesing [sic], spreadsheet, personal information manager, e-mail, web browser, PC synchronisation and text-to-speech capability at no extra cost."
