Indians causing turmoil
"Indians stir up Morgan Stanley," reports the Telegraph. The story begins: "Two Indians have thrown Wall Street into tumult, casting Morgan Stanley, one of its pillars, into unprecedented turmoil."
Now, basically the story is about a widespread revolt against the incumbent Morgan Stanley management by disgruntled employees and shareholders. Two of these happen to be Indians, but the revolt has nothing to do with nationality. So I find the whole peg that the Telegraph has used to be contrived. Much like the fuss over whether an Indian will be the next Pope, which I'd referred to earlier. Or our hurry to treat the achievements of Vijay Singh, Jhumpa Lahiri and, recently, Rana Dasgupta as a matter of national pride, even though none of them are Indian.
Meanwhile Sourav Ganguly's out for zero. Should that be a matter of national shame? Of course not. Get over it.
