The light of De
I saw the Star World show, Koffee With Karan, for the first time today, and Karan Johar's guests in this episode were Shabana Azmi and Shobha De. Johar was questioning De about her days as editor of Stardust, and about the state of journalism today. She had this to say:
A little later, in the rapid-fire section, Johar asked her: "Page 3 or Editorials?"
She replied, "Editorials are Page 3 now!"
All of this is nothing new, and we bloggers have been lamenting this for months now. But what made De's saying it stand out was her tone: It was triumphant and joyful. It had a touch of pride.
Politics has been Stardustised. Sports has been Stardustised. Show me one area [of journalism] that has been untouched [dramatic pause here] by Stardust.
A little later, in the rapid-fire section, Johar asked her: "Page 3 or Editorials?"
She replied, "Editorials are Page 3 now!"
