Funny guys aren't all sad

Kathryn Hughes writes in the Guardian that "intimacy with a compulsive wit is all but impossible." She arrives at this conclusion after describing how hard Oscar Wilde allegedly worked for his witticisms, after which she makes a massive leap by generalising that "the compulsive wit prefers to hide away in the shadows, polishing up one-liners ready to use on the next public outing."

Pfaw. I'm off now to think of a witty rejoinder. See you later.
