The classic womanizer and the classic enabler

, one of my favourite modern non-fiction writers, has an excellent piece in the New Yorker on Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, and the nature of their relationships. Fascinating stuff. I've never admired those two as writers or thinkers, and they don't seem the best of people to have known either.
