Mint: In defence of freedom

I'm rather excited about the launch of Mint, the business newspaper brought out by HT and the Wall Street Journal. Part of the reason for this, of course, is that I'm doing a lot of work for them: I'll be writing a weekly edit-page column for them that begins next Thursday, and I'll also be making daily crosswords for them, starting tomorrow's issue. But a greater reason for my excitement is that finally, India has a newspaper that explicitly supports the values of freedom, in all its forms, that I hold so dear.

Niranjan Rajadhyaksha states it superbly in his piece, "In defence of freedom." (Free registration required.)

I'm rushing out to buy the newspaper now. I'm told its Berliner format looks quite nifty. Immense impatience implodes.

Update: Do read Raju Narisetti's "What you can expect from Mint."
